Two members of Tajinyo, the internet group who viciously claimed Korean rapper Tablo's Stanford degree was fake, have been sentenced to prison for defamation of the star.
The two members, Won and Lee, were sentenced to 10 months in prison by the Seoul Central District Court on July 6th. They were immediately taken into custody after the ruling was given.
In addition, 4 people were given 8 month prison sentences with a 2 year probation period. 2 others were given 10 months in prison with a 2 year probation period. Judge Kwak Yoon Kyung stated:
"The public is free to express their interest in celebrities, and celebrities must handle it to some extent. However, the two went over the threshold of simple comments into continuous, malicious slander against Tablo and his family".
Tajinyo, also known as "We Want the Truth from Tablo", was an internet group who claimed Tablo never graduated from Stanford. Despite confirmation of his degree, the group continued to slander Tablo and his family, leading to a lengthy trail.
