KARA's Gyuri and Nicole opened up about the difficulties they've faced through their careers as idols.
The two were guest on the latest episode of KBS2's "Do Dream". Gyuri started by discussing the time she was signing on to become a trainee with an agency. She revealed that she went to the agency with her parents to review the contract. During the meeting, the agency gave her parents an estimate for the plastic surgery they wanted her to do before she could debut with the company.
"I was very upset that they said this to my parents, the people who gave birth to me," she stated.
"When I debuted with KARA, I looked more mature than the other members. A lot of people asked why I was in the group and I lost a lot of confidence," she continued, sharing more of the struggles she's had with her image.
Afterwards, Nicole talked about her struggle with learning new languages. When KARA began debuting in Japan, the idol had to learn Japanese. However, lessons were taught in Korean, another language she had learned later in life as a trainee.
"It was hard to learn another foreign language, especially when being taught in Korean. I was already struggling with Korean. In Japan, I was afraid I would say something wrong or lose my flow, so I just wouldn't speak," she stated.
