  • scandals/issues Court Ruling In The JYJ vs. SM Entertainment Case Delayed

The court ruling in the JYJ vs. SM Entertainment case was supposed to be announced on July 19th. However, the ruling has been been delayed and will be revealed on August 10th.

JYJ members Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu were part of the original 5-member TVXQ group. In 2009, the three filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment claiming their contract was unfair, contract terms had been changed without their consent and that they weren't paid a proper share of the profits the group had earned. An injunction allowed them temporary freedom from their contract with SM Entertainment.

SM Entertainment counter sued the three members, claiming the contract was fair and demanding damages the controversy had caused the company. The case was dismissed by the courts.

If JYJ wins their case, SM Entertainment, who hasn't acknowledged the trio as a legitimate group and has tried to block their progress, would be ordered to officially release them from their contract.
