Browneyed Soul (브라운아이드 소울, also written Brown Eyed Soul) is a Korean RnB group who released their debut album, Soul Free, in September 18th, 2003. From it the single Jeongmal Sarang Haesseulkka (정말 사랑했을까) topped the KBS charts in October of that year. In April 2010, Kyoung Tack Lim joined the group as a backup singer. Their main music genre is R&B, Soul, with some Korean Ballad melody.
After their first debut they took 4 years to record their second album The Wind, The Sea, The Rain, which was released on November 05th, 2007. Their second album sold about 100,000 copies. It helped them win the R&B award at the 5th Korean Music awards in 2008. In 2010, they made their comeback to the music industry by releasing the three singles I’ll Make Way, Blowin My Mind on April 07th, Love Ballad, Never Forget on May 10th, and Can’t Stop Lovin’ You on July 06th. In the music video of the song I’ll Make Way (a.k.a I’ll Move), besides the actress Lee Da Hae, all the Brown Eyed Soul members made their appearance together for the first time. This MV also came in 2 versions: one Black and White, and the other a Colour version.
Brown Eyed Soul has not appeared on television before, which is very unusual in Korea where most groups appear regularly. However, Brown Eyed Soul's popularity is not by their looks, but by their music and their unique voice.
Lead vocal Na-eol was the one who came up with the concept for Brown Eyed Soul. Just as the group name indicates, their genre of choice, soul. Their resonant and sensitive voices are just perfect for expressing the spiritual aspect of soul music. Nonetheless, their music is not 100% soul, but seasoned with a bit of pop music to appeal to the general audience. After their first album in 2003, Na-Ul went solo and released his own individual album, “Na-eol Back to the Soul Flight” in 2005. He rejoined the group to introduce their second album in 2007. · Close
