Bang Yong Gook, best known as Yonggukk, Bang, BYG, or Jepp Blackman, is the main rapper and leader of a South Korean K-pop hip-hop boy band, B.A.P. Before his debut with B.A.P, Bang was revealed by TS Entertainment as a featured rapper in Song Jieun's "Going Crazy". His debut with Jieun became an immediate success and fans praised Bang for his fiery and husky delivery. The song topped the charts on both Gaon's Digitial and Streaming Charts. After the release of "Going Crazy", Bang was the eye candy of the media. He had been requested by many broadcast services as they expressed their interest in his handsome looks and professional performances. But TS Entertainment declined all offers because at the time Bang was still a trainee. He was also a member of an underground group named, Soul Connection. Although all of this popularity caused Bang to appear in another single made by Song Ji Eun.

In August 2011, Bang released "I Remember" featuring Yang Yoseob of B2ST. The song had a moderate rate of success since it reached the Top 10 on South Korean real charts and peaked 22nd on Gaon charts. Unfortunately Bang and Yoseob couldn't perform "I Remember" because it was deemed unfit for broadcast due to several scenes containing shooting and violence.

In March 2011, TS Entertainment signaled that Bang would appear in a boy band in 2012. Bang was the first member to be revealed in boy band, B.A.P. In November 2011, TS Entertainment stated that they would preview a sub-unit for their upcoming boy band previously known as "TS Baby" which featured Bang Yong Gook and another mystery member. In January 2012, B.A.P made their smashing debut with their lead single "WARRIOR" which made 44th on the Gaon and 49th on the Billboard Korea K-Pop Hot 100 charts. On January 26, 2012, Bang won the Best Hip Hop Artist on Allkop 2011 Awards. Close
